Care for your Dryer Vent

Clean your dryer vent as needed.  Dryer manufacturers generally recommend cleaning your dryer vent annually, but that does not necessarily mean that you shouldn’t clean it more often than that.  Here are some signs that your dryer vent may be clogged from excessive lint:

  1. Lint build up behind your dryer
  2. Longer than normal drying time
  3. Little or no lint on the lint screen after drying cycles
  4. Excessive lint on your clothes after drying cycles
  5. Lint accumulating around the dryer door
  6. The dryer or clothes are too hot at the end of drying cycles
  7. Mold or mildew smell in or near the dryer
  8. If you do not smell the fresh laundry scent your lint screen may need cleaning
